By Antonia Noori Farzan — Warwick — After discovering that waterfront neighborhoods were littered with fake "No Parking" signs, the City of Warwick is moving forward with designating public parking spots near coastal rights of way.

At more than 20 public access points throughout the city, the Public Works Department will create marked parking spots, install signs stating “Right of Way Public Water Access” or “Parking Allowed,” or do both.

The changes were unanimously approved by the Warwick City Council last week in an an omnibus resolution introduced by Councilman Vincent Gebhart.

The resolution doesn't remove any existing parking restrictions, but instead is intended to ensure that there are clearly marked spots where people can park to access the shoreline.
