Mission: The Sea Level Rise Committee is established to understand the potential local impacts posed by sea level rise, assess the community’s vulnerabilities, engage citizens and assist the town to assess, recommend and implement mitigation projects or other priority actions that will improve Block Island’s coastal resiliency.

1. Approval of Minutes from November 1st, 2022

2. Open Discussion with the Block Island Sewage Authority, Dylan Chase. What are their issues, concerns, priorities regarding sea level rise?

3. Committee Member Updates

   a. Town Council
   b. Town Planner including Grants and the Town Hazard Mitigation Plan (see attached results from the public survey)

4. Smaller-Scale SLR Projects

   To address in the short-term, relate to the Town’s Hazard Mitigation Plan, funds to request in the Town’s next budget, and determine how best to socialize.

5. SnapCoast

   This will stay on the agenda until we have had a good discussion of the program for which Malcolm Spaulding sent a link. This article describes the program: Progressive Charlestown: URI, R.I. 6. Upcoming Immersion/Education Sessions – Updates

   The group agreed that the following people will be invited to join our regular meeting or hold a separate “immersion session:”

   Jen West (RIDEM) and Mike Bradley (URI), Adapting to Sea-Level Rise in Rhode Island: Land Preservation for Salt Marsh Migration – Public Meeting with Town Council – scheduled for December 19th 3-5pm** at Town Hall and via Zoom

   Annette Grilli (URI), wave attenuation – Socha Cohen & Judy Gray – scheduled for February 7th, 2023

   BI Tide Gauge Group – Nigel Grindley CRMC – Sven Risom
   Bryan Oakley, erosion and SLR – Judy Gray
