LIVESTREAM AVAILABLE AT 6 PM, 2/2: https://www.commonfencepoint.org/live/
NOTE: This meeting is a free in-person event at the Common Fence Point Community Center. Please register to attend in person. Otherwise, you may view the meeting at the link above.
In response to the questions we received during our first event, our goal for this meeting (the second in a three-part series) is to share information about the state and local decision-making process specific to offshore wind cable installation and how and when community members can engage.
Municipal and state regulators from the Town of Portsmouth, Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council, and the Rhode Island Energy Facilities Siting Board will walk the group through their decision-making process for offshore wind development in state waters, particularly cable installation. Speakers will also highlight when public learning and input take place in the process and how the public can effectively engage.
This interactive discussion will allow attendees to ask questions and experts will answer questions to the best of their ability. During this meeting, we will also identify other questions and concerns that the community has, which could be responded to at a future meeting.
Confirmed Speakers:
Lea Hitchen, Portsmouth Town Planner
Mike Jarbeau, Narragansett Baykeeper, Save The Bay
Emma Rodvien, Rhode Island Energy Facility Siting Board Coordinator
Jeff Willis, Executive Director, Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council
