By Liz Bateson NBC 10 News — NARRAGANSETT, RI — Narragansett coped with strong winds, massive waves and significant flooding as a storm moved in early Friday morning.

Big waves crashed over the seawall, flooding nearby streets. The water started to subside by noon.

Water covered the beach where the sand normally sits at Narragansett Beach.

“It’s mostly tidal surge damage. As the tide comes out and the waters recede, we’ll reopen the roads and clean them up,” said Stephen Daignault, the director of Public Works.

Hailey Paris lives across the street. She came home from work early Friday morning to see her road covered in water.

“When I pulled in, I could see the waves coming over the seawall,” Paris said.

She said she had difficulty on her drive home from Woonsocket to Narragansett, as much of the state deals with the storm's aftermath.

“I could not see the car in front of me until I got to Warwick,” Paris said. “It was terrifying.”
